Siding Replacement
A siding replacement restores full protection when panels crack, fade, or fail over time. Local homeowners love our fast and fair siding estimates, how we explain the options, show up on time, and stand behind our work long after your new siding is installed.
Siding Damage Repairs
Siding repairs stop water intrusion after wind, hail, or flying debris and extend your exterior’s lifespan. Trust our 5 Star Potlatch siding - our licensed crews handle emergency patches, photos for insurance, and lasting fixes to damaged panels on your home.
Potlatch sits right on the Palouse River and along ID 6, where plowed snow, river fog, and mill town storms hit siding from every angle. Once boards start to fail, water rides straight into the wall cavity.
A modern siding package - vinyl, LP SmartSide, HardiePlank, or steel on shops - gives Potlatch homes a clean, tough exterior that fits the mill town character. You protect the structure, improve insulation performance, and spend more time enjoying the property instead of chasing exterior repairs.
Posted on Kevin CannonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a small roof repair after a home inspection that needed addressed within the month. They answered my call right away and were happy to help, fitting us in their schedule almost instantly. Luke and Alex were super nice and professional both on the phone and in person. Some poorly timed snow storms delayed them a few days but they were great at communicating what their plans were. Highly recommend these guys!Posted on SCTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. GCS went out right away to assess my roof, made the repair and gave ma great price for a new roof. They sent me photos during and upon completion of thr process. I dont live there full time, but my neighbor said they worked fast and furious to get it done. They did my roof during the winter, and completed it before the weather became a burden. Would definitely use them again for other projects I have coming up.Posted on Norman chesserTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We hired this general contractor for our home renovation, and the results exceeded our expectations. The team was punctual, skilled, and communicated clearly throughout the project. They stayed on schedule and within budget while delivering high-quality workmanship. The entire process was smooth and stress-free. I would confidently recommend them for any construction or remodeling needs.Posted on Barbara FrananoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our barn roof was damaged by a windstorm in December 2025. Our insurance appraiser estimated the cost to replace the damaged panels was less than our deductable so we were responsible out of pocket for the repairs. We contacted GCS, and Alex came out to give us an estimate for the repairs. His bid for parts and labor was less than the insurance estimate. We have also had leaks in other areas of the roof. Alex noticed the origional installers had used screws that were too small. He suggested removing the screws and replacing with the larger proper size and installing aditional screws to spec fastener pattern. They were able to come right away before weather got bad again, and did an outstanding job. We were very impressed by the level of professionalism and ease of interaction. We have no complaints! Thanks!Posted on Dan MaurerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. GCS construction completed three separate projects at my home. New vinyl siding, new shed, and repair of a sagging garage door header. Alex and his crew did a great job and am very happy with the results of all the projects. Work was done in a professional and timely manner and I was kept apprised of what they were doing and they were available to answer all of my questions. I highly recommend GCS!Posted on Anne ETrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Alex did a phenomenal job on my home sealing and siding. He fixed the issue I had around my sliding glass door beautifully also.Posted on Laurie McGrawTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't say enough about this company. They go above and beyond in customer service. We have worked with them on 3 projects (one of which is not complete yet and I will be writing a review when it is) They represent great quality workmanship, honesty, integrity, job completed in a timely manner, they clean up after themselves you will not have to walk around picking up empty drink bottles, garbage and debris, they take pride in what they do, you will not find them standing around on there cell phones. Luke, Alex and Caleb put up with all of my questions and non sense and are always kind and patient. I have not seen anything they are not capable of doing or willing to take on and do it well. Thank you guys for a fantastic experience. Highly recommend.Posted on Sandra ChavezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What siding contractor services do we offer for Potlatch homes and buildings?
Potlatch grew as a historic mill town along the Palouse River and State Highway 6, with homes, shops, and barns that span decades of construction styles. We install and replace fiber cement siding such as HardiePlank, engineered wood like LP SmartSide and Diamond Kote, vinyl siding, and steel siding on everything from compact in town houses to outbuildings on the hill.
Vinyl siding is a good fit for many properties that need budget conscious, low maintenance upgrades without losing character. It never needs paint, holds color in timber country weather, and comes in profiles that can echo older lap siding or give a cleaner, updated look along the main streets and SH 6 corridor.
How do mill town conditions and Palouse weather affect siding in Potlatch?
This area combines river bottom, hillside, and open Palouse:
- Snow and ice sliding off roofs land hard on lower sections of siding.
- Cool, damp air near the Palouse River and older mill infrastructure keeps shaded walls wet longer.
- Wind along SH 6 and up the Potlatch Grade drives rain into corners and joints.
- Older wood and composite products break down faster under these cycles.
We back HardiePlank, LP SmartSide, Diamond Kote, vinyl, and steel siding with housewrap, flashings, and drainage details suited for river, mill, and hillside conditions.
What does a new siding installation look like for Potlatch homes and shops?
Whether your place is near the old depot, closer to Onaway, or out toward Princeton, we:
- Inspect the structure and existing cladding for water damage and rot.
- Look at how gutters, roofs, porches, and concrete direct water against or away from walls.
- Help you choose a system:
- HardiePlank lap siding with fiber cement trim for a strong, timeless profile.
- LP SmartSide lap and board and batten for homes and barns that tie into the timber backdrop.
- Diamond Kote prefinished siding for long lasting color on prominent streets and hillsides.
- Vinyl siding packages for simple, affordable, low maintenance upgrades.
- Steel siding for shops, garages, and mixed use buildings that see equipment and trailers.
We pay close attention to transitions, kickouts, and penetrations so problems that started under the old siding do not follow you into the new finish.
What siding problems are common on Potlatch homes and outbuildings?
In and around town, we often see:
- Rot at lower corners and porch connections where snow and water sit.
- Peeling paint, exposed substrate, and missing pieces on older wood siding.
- Warped or brittle vinyl sections from decades of weather and poor fastening.
- Loose trim around windows and doors that lets water track inside.
- Rooms that feel drafty or damp on the shaded side of the house.
We show you what is cosmetic, what is urgent, and how a new siding package can shut down those weak spots.
Why do Potlatch property owners mix engineered wood, vinyl, fiber cement, and steel?
Different structures on a single lot often need different solutions:
- LP SmartSide works well for main homes and farmhouses that need a wood look with better durability.
- Diamond Kote keeps tall elevations and gables looking fresh without frequent repainting.
- HardiePlank adds fire resistance and stability near timber and steep ground.
- Vinyl siding is ideal for rentals, smaller homes, or budget driven projects where low maintenance matters.
- Steel siding handles daily abuse on shops, barns, and commercial style buildings near SH 6.
We design each building’s siding mix to match its use, visibility, and long term maintenance plan.
How can updated siding improve curb appeal in a historic mill town?
On a small grid of streets, it is easy to spot which exteriors are dialed in:
- New siding smooths out the visual noise of years of patching and repainting.
- Matching trim and soffits tie older remodels and additions together.
- Fresh exteriors make porches, gables, and entry steps feel more welcoming.
Whether you are planning to stay, rent, or sell, a siding upgrade in vinyl, engineered wood, fiber cement, or steel makes your property stand out for the right reasons.
How do you get a siding estimate in Potlatch and the surrounding area?
We start at your property, not on a spreadsheet. During your visit we:
- Walk each elevation and note existing issues with photos.
- Review LP SmartSide, Diamond Kote, HardiePlank, vinyl, and steel options that fit your home and budget.
- Explain recommended repairs to framing or sheathing before new siding goes on.
- Deliver a written estimate with scope, materials, and scheduling expectations.
From in town lots to rural parcels between Potlatch, Onaway, Princeton, and Harvard, we install siding packages built for Palouse and timber country weather.
